The Black Star Line (1919 −1922) was a shipping line incorporated by Marcus Garvey’s UNIA. The shipping line was created to transport goods and Black people throughout the African diaspora. It was one of the many businesses that the UNIA created. Garvey and Amy Ashwood also created the Negro World newspaper, which was published weekly in Harlem, New York, and distributed internationally to the UNIA's chapters in more than forty countries. We have decided to create this blog in the spirit of the Negro World Newspaper to distribute information that is of importance to the African diaspora.
